Dr. Beverly Title is a national consultant trainer in violence prevention and at-risk youth, and director of Teaching Peace. With 25 years of experience in public schools, she taught at every level from kindergarten through graduate school and specialized in working with challenging teenagers. She designed and implemented numerous alternative school programs and developed the NO-BULLYING Program, a curriculum for dealing with highly aggressive students who don't play fair. She co-authored Victim or Hero: Writing Your Own Life Story, a workbook that guides adolescents to find their own voice. She is keenly interested in how emotional intelligence can be fostered within institutional settings. Dr. Title has done extensive work in building community partnerships and founded the Longmont (Colorado) Community Justice Partnership. Funded by grants from the Department of Criminal Justice and Youth Crime Prevention and Intervention, this project uses a restorative justice model for alternative sentencing of juveniles who have committed crimes or school rule violations which make then at-risk of school expulsion. Dr. Title's latest work is a training manual for creating safe schools entitled Civility Rules, that she co-authored with her partner, Lana Leonard. Dr. Title teaches peace studies at Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado. She was named the 1999 Colorado Peace Builder of the Year.
