Educators today are expected to do more with less. Teachers and administrators are tasked with ensuring not only the physical and emotional well-being of students, but also the academic achievement of all students. Finding ways to narrow the achievement gap for students of color is also an ongoing challenge. Fortunately, there is a proven educational model for success.
Building Assets, Reducing Risks (BARR)
is an evidence-based social and emotional learning model proven to decrease educational disparities while increasing achievement for all students. The model combines teachers' real-time analysis of student data with student asset building and intentional relationships to not only prevent course failure, but also accelerate middle and high performers.
The BARR Classroom Curriculum, volume 2, known as "I-Time," helps teachers and classroom support staff extend their I-Time efforts over more grade levels or over another year of school. This volume 2 includes thirty-five interactive and engaging I-Time activities as part of the BARR
model. Volume 2 is focused on building developmental assets through such topics as goal-setting, communication, grief and loss, bullying, and diversity.
has received national recognition from the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), and it also meets What Works Clearinghouse standards without reservations.
