Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, and each year thousands more preteens and teens become addicted to nicotine. Minnesota Smoking Prevention Program (MSPP), which targets students aged 9-13, is designed to:
  • help youth identify reasons kids smoke (peer pressure, advertising, lack of self-confidence
  • introduce resistance skills that young peopole can really use
  • emphasize peer leadership in facilitating classroom activities so students experience social support for resisitance

In addition to six core components for students in grades 4-8, the expanded and updated MSPP includes:

  • a peer leadership guide
  • a booster session for high school students
  • a community action guide
  • reproducible student handouts, IDs, and certificates

MSPP Kit includes 1 facilitator's guide, set of 5 posters, and 30 Talking about Tobacco booklets
