Protecting You/Protecting Me
An alcohol use prevention curriculum for children in grades 1-5. It has been designated a Model Program by SAMHSA, a division of the U.S. Department of Health. Protecting You/Protecing Me (PY/PM) helps reach children before they have fully shaped their attitudes and opinions about alcohol use by youth. PY/PM provides a series of science and health based lessons that teach children how to protect themselves and make informed decisions.
A fully integrated approach, this program is not a curriculum, but rather a comprehensive bullying prevention strategy for teachers, support staff, and parents - virtually everyone who comes in contact with elementary through junior high age students. Backed by 20 years of international research.
A CSAP Model program spanning grades 6-12, was developed in a region that led the nation in alcohol-related teen traffic fatalities. After an initial three-year test of the program, teen alcohol use decreased by 30% and tobacco and marijuana use declined significantly. Project Northland can work in your corner of the world, too!
Class Action is the high school component of the research-based alcohol prevention program Project Northland. In Class Action, teens take part on legal teams to prepare and present hypothetical civil cases in which someone has been harmed as a result of underage drinking.
Safe Dates is the only evidence-based curriculum that prevents dating abuse: a factor often linked to alcohol and other drug use. Highly engaging and interactive, Safe Dates helps teens recognize the difference between caring, supportive relationships and controlling, manipulative, or abusive dating relationships.
Respect WORKS! is the most comprehensive evidence-based dating violence prevention model available today. Four unique components work together to address dating violence at the middle school and high school levels. The School Policy Kit guides educators in creating new or updating existing dating abuse policies and specifically addresses issues of school safety and legal liability. Ending Violence is ideal as a supplement to Safe Dates or as a standalone program for high school students Speak. Act. Change empowers students to advocate for dating violence prevention through youth activism, service-learning, and peer leadership. Designed for students 13 and older. Includes a CD-ROM of reproducible materials.
Lifelines: A Comprehensive Suicide Awareness and Responsiveness Program for Teens is Hazelden's evidence-based program for addressing suicide among young people. Lifelines is a whole-school program that educates administrators, faculty and staff, parents, and students on the facts about suicide and their roles in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.
Minnesota Smoking Prevention Program (MSPP) is a comprehensive tobacco prevention program. It is based on a social influences model of prevention that focuses on those social and psychological factors that have been shown to promote the onset of tobacco use. Accordingly, the objectives of this program are to build on students' skills and behaviors rather than simply increase their knowledge, beliefs, or motivations.
