Prevention resource center
For educators and prevention specialists. We combine research-based curricula with engaging, real-life content to help prevent risky behaviors and build resilient behaviors.
Protecting You/Protecting Me
An alcohol use prevention curriculum for children in grades 1-5. It has been designated a Model Program by SAMHSA, a division of the U.S. Department of Health. Protecting You/Protecing Me (PY/PM) helps reach children before they have fully shaped their attitudes and opinions about alcohol use by youth. PY/PM provides a series of science and health based lessons that teach children how to protect themselves and make informed decisions.
Olweus
A fully integrated approach, this program is not a curriculum, but rather a comprehensive bullying prevention strategy for teachers, support staff, and parents - virtually everyone who comes in contact with elementary through junior high age students. Backed by 20 years of international research.
Project Northland
A CSAP Model program spanning grades 6-12, was developed in a region that led the nation in alcohol-related teen traffic fatalities. After an initial three-year test of the program, teen alcohol use decreased by 30% and tobacco and marijuana use declined significantly. Project Northland can work in your corner of the world, too!
Class Action is the high school component of the research-based alcohol prevention program Project Northland. In Class Action, teens take part on legal teams to prepare and present hypothetical civil cases in which someone has been harmed as a result of underage drinking.
No Bullying
Named a Top 10 Violence Prevention Program by the Association of School Administrators, this program spans grades K-8 and involves family, peers, media and the community with the overall goal of reducing bullying behaviors at school.
The PAX Good Behavior Game
Designed for use in K-6 classrooms, this research-based behavior management model increases student academic time by decreasing disruptive student behaviors. Its simple, effective, and (best of all) fun! Students are divided into teams that "compete" against each other to earn rewards for refraining from disruptive, inattentive, or aggressive behavior. Approximately 20 published studies have shown that this classroom management model results in decreased classroom disruptions (by 50-90%), a greater number of students fully engaged in learning (by20-50%), decreased referrals and suspensions (by 30-60%), and more time for teaching and learning (25%).
