NEWBERG, ORE. -- Hazelden Springbrook, a residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility in Newberg, Ore., broke ground October 9, 2008 on a $10 million expansion and renovation, the first step in adding more than 22,000 square feet and renovating 6,500 square feet of the existing campus, nearly doubling the area for patient service. At the ground-breaking ceremony held that day, Hazelden Springbrook Executive Director Jan Vondrachek said, "Hazelden has been in the Northwest for nearly 20 years, helping people from the region and across the country to reclaim their lives from alcohol and drug addiction. This investment in our facilities will allow us to offer our high standard of addiction treatment to a greater number of patients and to better meet their diverse needs." The Oregon facility's expansion will bring extended care patients (those who have already completed a primary addiction treatment program) to a new on-campus facility that will enhance the continuity of care and enable greater interaction among peers. In addition, the renovation project will expand Hazelden's primary care medical unit, where patients are treated in the critical initial phase of their treatment for alcohol and drug addiction.
