Fees are divided into two categories: Routine charges and Non-routine charges. The following is an explanation of their charges and how they relate to the services Hazelden provides.

Routine charges
Routine charges are included in the daily residential rates and fees that all patients incur while they are in a Hazelden program. Routine charges include:

• Room
• Meals
• Group therapy
• Individual therapy
• Initial psychological testing
• Education sessions
• Recreational therapy and other therapeutic activities
• Initial issue of Hazelden literature

Non-routine charges
Non-routine charges are fees that some patients may incur for special services while at Hazelden and are added to the patient's bill in addition to the daily rate. These fees vary, as not all Hazelden patients require these services. A Hazelden financial counselor can discuss the current service fee schedule with you. Non-routine fees include:

• Medications
• Specialized nursing care
• Psychiatric consultations
• Individual mental health consultations or sessions
• Specialized group therapy
• Specialized treatment programs
• Physician appointments
• Special transportation requests and faxes
• Additional educational and/or therapeutic books assigned by your counselor

Adult Residential Primary Care Addiction Treatment Program
Patient stays at Hazelden

• The cost for the first day is $1900. This covers medical stabilization and medical assessments to ensure patient safety
• Each subsequent day of treatment is $825
• The average cost for a residential primary care addiction treatment program averaging 28 days is $27,000

Extended Care

• The cost for extended care is $403 per day

Adult Nonresidential Treatment Program
Patient attends services but does not stay at Hazelden

• Program cost is $6408 for four sessions per week for six weeks (24 sessions)

Family Program

• One family program registration is included in the price of Hazelden's residential primary care treatment program.
• Additional family members or friends are always welcome to register for the program 
• Four-day nonresidential family program rate is $780 per person
• Travel, lodging and meals outside of the program are not included

Other programs available:

• Five-day residential evaluation $5500 (actual charges are based on length of stay and services provided)
• Nonresidential chemical use assessment $344
• Continuing Care services $55 per session
• Mental Health services are charged on a fee-for-service basis
