| Are you concerned about a loved one's substance use? Hazelden knows how frustrating and frightening it can be to watch a loved one struggle with the use of alcohol or other drugs. That's why we've created a special group for people who are looking for answers on how to help. It's called the Concerned Persons Group from Hazelden. The group offers education and support to individuals who feel frustrated and lost when it comes to their loved one's addiction. Group sessions will give you a safe and supportive environment to process emotions, learn healthy boundaries, and practice new coping skills. You will also receive guidance and support on how to discuss concerns about alcohol and other drug use with your loved one and how to present him or her with options for recovery, such as treatment and therapy.
Group Format The focus of the group varies slightly for each session. The typical format will include a presentation on a specific topic, such as boundaries, followed by group discussion. Sometimes the facilitator will use role-playing exercises or short videos. The Concerned Persons Group is based on the Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) model developed by Robert J. Meyers, Ph.D., author of Get Your Loved One Sober.
