How to apply
Requirements
As a minimum qualification for entrance to the internship program, you must be enrolled in a counseling or clinical psychology doctoral program. Practice totaling a minimum of 1,500 hours must be completed before the start of the program. This includes all Practicum Intervention, Assessment, and Support hours.
Application
Hazelden Foundation Psychology Doctoral Internship Program is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Intern ship Centers (APPIC ). Over the years, APPIC has developed guidelines for procedures used in student-internship matching, and these guidelines continue to evolve over time, as APPIC remains responsive to the varied concerns around this issue. Effective July 9, 2009 APPIC launched APPIC Online, which is a paperless application process for doctoral internship programs. Please visit www.appic.org for further instructions and guidelines for completion of application.
Hazelden follows APPIC policy regarding offers and acceptance and participates in the APPIC Match Program. Hazelden abides by the APPIC policy in that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information for any intern applicant.
Hazelden Foundation will participate in the APPIC Internship Match Program administered by National Match Services Inc.
There are two match numbers for our internship program, corresponding to the two training tracks. Applicants may apply to just one or both tracks. The track match number are:
- 166012 Adolescent Track
- 166013 Adult Track
Applicants must obtain an Applicant Agreement Package from NMS and register for the Match in order to be eligible to match to our internship programs. You can request an Applicant Agreement Package from NMS through the Match Program Web site.
You will need to upload the following material through APPIC Online for the selection committees' review:
- Completed APPI application
- Current academic vita
- Official transcript of all graduate work
- Three letters of recommendation from resources with direct knowledge of your clinical experience, strengths and interests
- Supplemental application
Application deadline
The application deadline for the 2012-2013 internship is November 4, 2011.
Selection
A Selection Committee consisting of the director of training and clinical leaders will review applications. Committee members rate applicants according to set criteria. Applicants will be notified by December 10, 2011 if they will be invited for an interview. Interviews will be conducted by phone or in person.
Stipend and benefits
Hazelden Mental Health Centers internship appointments are full time for 12 months. Internships carry a stipend of $20,500. Interns receive ten days to use as sick time or vacation. The benefits include Hazelden holidays, professional development leave and research time.
Housing
Hazelden does not offer assistance in finding housing. For housing information, refer to the local newspapers Chisago CountyPress, Minneapolis Star Tribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press.
