Pre-Doctoral Continuing Education in Professional Psychology

Requirements
As a minimum qualification for entrance to the internship program, you must be enrolled in a counseling or clinical psychology doctoral program. Practice totaling a minimum of 1,500 hours must be completed before the start of the program.

Application
The following information is needed:

  • Completed APPIC 2007
  • Academic program verification of internship eligibility and readiness signed by your director of training
  • Current academic vita
  • Official transcript of all graduate work
  • Three letters of recommendation including one from an academic advisor and two from other resources with direct knowledge of your clinical experience, strengths and interests

Application deadline
The application deadline for the 2009-2010 internship is November 11, 2008
. Hard copies of the materials including letters of reference are due by the deadline.

Hazelden follows APPIC policy regarding offers and acceptance and participates in the APPIC Matching Program. Hazelden abides by the APPIC policy in that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information for any intern applicant.

Selection
A Selection Committee consisting of the director of training and clinical leaders will review applications. Committee members rate applicants according to set criteria.  Applicants will be notified by December 14, 2008 if they will be invited for an interview.  Interviews will be conducted by phone or in person.  Interviews will be scheduled on January 7 and January 11, 2009.

Stipend and Benefits
Hazelden Mental Health Centers internship appointments are full time for 12 months.  Internships carry a stipend of $20,500. Interns receive ten days to use as sick time or vacation. The benefits include Hazelden holidays, professional development leave and research time.

Housing
Hazelden does not offer assistance in finding housing. For housing information, refer to the local newspapers Chisago CountyPress, Minneapolis Star Tribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press.
