Dan Anderson Renewal Center Presenters

Renewal Center staff and guest facilitators include experts in addiction treatment and recovery, spiritual care professionals, popular lecturers, and noted recovery authors. All of our presenters bring extraordinary expertise and compassion to their work at the Renewal Center.

Bill Alexander Bill Alexander is a writer, a storyteller, and elder. His workshops are marked with humor, empathy, and group involvement. His book, Ordinary Recovery, is celebrated as a recovery classic.
Paul Anderson Paul Anderson is a supervisor in the adolescent and young adult services at Hazelden in Plymouth. He has a deep understanding of the wisdom of the Big Book, which he richly incorporates into his work with young men in recovery.
JoAnn Campbell-Rice JoAnn Campbell-Rice is the Renewal Program and Spiritual Care manager at the Renewal Center. A spiritual director, writer, and popular lecturer, JoAnn translates spiritual principles into
practices that enrich everyday life.
Karen Casey Karen Casey has more than 35 years in AA and Al Anon. Her first book, the bestseller Each Day a New Beginning, was written in 1982, followed by 25 books--most recently with a focus on relationships.
Don Carroll Don Carroll is a spiritual director and author of A Lawyer's Guide to Healing, Connect, and a spiritual suspense novel, Hacking Toward Consciousness.
Richard Choate Richard Choate is manager of Recovery Support at Hazelden. He worked in a variety of industries before bringing his passion for recovery to Hazelden and the Renewal Center.
Link Christin, Legal Professionals Program Link Christin is the director of Hazelden's Legal Professionals Program. He practiced as a commercial trial lawyer for more than 25 years before becoming a licensed addiction counselor.
Michael Fitzpatrick Michael Fitzpatrick is a leading historian and speaker in the field of alcoholism, specializing in the development of the Twelve Step movement. He is the author of We Recovered Too, and co-author of 1000 Years of Sobriety and Living the Twelve Traditions in Today's World.
Becca Gee Becca Gee has worked at Hazelden in the past and is now a residential counselor at the Pride Institute. Becca's academic career has focused on the LGBTQ community in the context of Sociology and Addiction Counseling.
Fred Holmquist Fred Holmquist, director of the Lodge Program at the Renewal Center, has contributed to the field of addiction services for 35 years. He translates Twelve Step principles and practices for professional, family, recovery, and lay audiences, using exquisitely simple examples from a range of sciences, disciplines, and wisdom traditions.
Tom Hubler Tom Hubler has worked with families for 40 years. As a nationally recognized expert in helping family-owned businesses transition and grow, Hubler fashions creative solutions and programs for his client families.
Will Hudson Will Hudson is a specialist at the Renewal Center. He is a grateful alumnus of Hazelden who has a keen understanding of the Big Book and the Narcotics Anonymous text and brings them alive through his authentic presence.
Theresa Jacobs-Stewart Thérèse Jacobs-Stewart is the founder of Mind Roads Meditation Center and has been a practicing psychotherapist and meditation teacher for over 25 years. She is the author of Mindfulness and the 12 Steps: Living Recovery in the Present Moment.
Delia Jurek Delia Jurek is a teacher, artist and actor with more than 25 years at Hazelden. She sees the Big Book as an endless source of wisdom for daily living and teaches the simple, practical use of this manual for recovery.
Julie Karsky Julie Karsky is a yoga instructor at the Renewal Center and is certified in all levels of YogaFit. She teaches young children, elders, first-timers, experienced practitioners and those with chronic pain with an extraordinary level of love and light.
Jeannine Leonard Jeannine Leonard, spiritual care professional in the adolescent and young adult services at Hazelden in Plymouth, is constantly looking for new ways to enhance the spiritual journey of young people in recovery. She and co-presenter Paul Anderson bring more than 60 years of working experience in addiction recovery.
Elene Loecher Elene Loecher is a certified spiritual director and educator known for the warmth and wisdom she brings to her work. She has more than 40 years of experience in retreat work and teaching meditation, including 28 years at the Renewal Center.
John MacDougall John MacDougall is the director of Spiritual Guidance at Hazelden in Center City, Minnesota He is a much sought-after lecturer who pens a popular column for Hazelden newsletters. John is coauthor of Clinician's Guide to Spirituality.
Priscilla MacDougall Priscilla MacDougall retired recently from her work as an addiction counselor and marriage and family therapist. She was a pioneering graduate of the Harvard-Radcliffe Graduate Program in Business Administration and holds master's degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary and the Alfred Adler Graduate School.
William Moyers William C. Moyers, vice president of Public Affairs and Community Relations at Hazelden, is the best-selling author of Broken: My Story of Addiction and Recovery; A New Day, A New Life; An Insider's Guide to Addiction and Recovery; and--most recently--Now What? An Insider's Guide to Addiction and Recovery.
Marc Myer Marc Myer, MD, is the director of the Health Care Professionals Program at Hazelden in Center City. An active member of the American and Minnesota Societies of Addiction Medicine, he also serves on the Executive Committee for Physicians Serving Physicians in Minnesota.
Buster Ross Buster Ross is a focal therapist at Hazelden in Oregon, and serves on the LGBTQ treatment team. A member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, his counseling approach is sex-positive, with a focus on mental health, substance abuse, and sexuality.
Marv Seppala Marvin D. Seppala, MD, chief medical officer at Hazelden, has worked with addicted health care professionals throughout his career. His books include Pain-Free Living for Drug-Free People; When Painkillers Become Dangerous; Prescription Painkillers; and Clinician's Guide to the Twelve Step Principles.
Jane Strong Jane Strong is an accredited Enneagram teacher and coach who has taught the system to staff at churches and other institutions.
Sara Stromberg Sara Stromberg is the Renewal Center's newest staff member, Sara brings an open heart, compassionate spirit, and rich knowledge of the Steps to her groups.
Annetta Sutton Annetta Sanow Sutton is a lecturer, writer, and educator who serves as a spiritual care professional at Hazelden in Center City. She recently authored Catholic Alcoholic: A Witness to Addiction and Redemption.
Teesie Vallero Teesie Vallero is on staff at the Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training, works in private practice as a forgiveness coach and Reiki master practitioner at the Well Healing Arts Center in Minneapolis, and is on staff at the Renewal Center.
Vern Williams Vern Williams, MD, is the medical director of Hazelden in Oregon. A board certified internist and member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, his practice includes a focus on addiction treatment for health care professionals.
