Renewal Center staff and guest facilitators include experts in addiction treatment and recovery, spiritual care professionals, popular lecturers, and noted recovery authors. All of our presenters bring extraordinary expertise and compassion to their work at the Renewal Center.

Renewal Center staff

Bill AlexanderBill Alexander is the author of the recovery classic Cool Water: Alcoholism, Mindfulness, and Ordinary Recovery, the 2006 Hazelden release, Still Waters: Sobriety, Atonement, and Unfolding Enlightenment, and the newly published Hi, I'm Bill and I'm Old: Reinventing My Sobriety for the Long Haul. He is a leader of meditation retreats nationwide.

JoAnn Campbell, spiritual directorJoAnn Campbell, Ph.D., Renewal Center Spiritual Care Coordinator, is a certified spiritual director with over 25 years experience teaching meditation, writing, and literature in a wide range of settings. JoAnn loves to ask questions that invite others to shift perspectives and allow new insights to flow.

Judy ChiodoJudy Chiodo has over 25 years of experience in the counseling field and marriage and family therapy. She has presented numerous workshops and retreats, and is a certified addiction counselor and spiritual director.

Ann GademskyAnn B. Gademsky, M.A., L.A.D.C., B.C.C.R., C.T.T.S., is supervisor of Adult Tobacco Recovery Services at Hazelden. She joined Hazelden as an addiction counselor, having worked for five years in primary care. Ann is a guest lecturer at the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies, and she brings passion, enthusiasm, and experience to her work at the Renewal Center. 

Fred HolmquistFred Holmquist, director of the Lodge Program at the Renewal Center, has worked in the field of addiction services for 32 years. He has a particular gift for translating traditional recovery philosophy into practical lessons for everyday living.

Will HudsonWill Hudson is coordinator of the Lodge Program at the Renewal Center. He is a grateful alumnus of Hazelden who shares with an open heart, listens with a compassionate ear, and encourages with a gentle strength. 

Delia JurekDelia Jurek brings two decades of experience at Hazelden to her position as a presenter in the Lodge Program. In addition to her work in the field of addiction, Delia is a professional artist and actor who finds the Big Book and its design for living a source of endless wisdom and enrichment.

Elene LoecherElene Loecher is a spiritual director and educator who is known for the warmth and wisdom she brings to her work with both groups and individuals. She has over 35 years experience in retreat work and teaching meditation, including 25 years at the Renewal Center

Teesie Vallero is a trainer at The Midwest Institute of Forgiveness Training and in private practice as a forgiveness counselor at The Well in Minneapolis. Teesie also practices Reiki in Minneapolis at Cloudwalk Center for Health. She's been trained in two schools of Reiki, Usui, and Karuna. As a Reiki Master Teacher she teaches in both modalities..

Presenters 

Lori Campbell, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., is an Advanced Certified Imago Relationship Therapist in private practice in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to working with couples, Lori has led intensive outpatient treatment programs in the addiction field and a re-entry program for people with drug-related felonies.

Richard Choate, a licensed chemical dependency counselor, currently works as a program supervisor at Hazelden's Women's Recovery Center in Center City. Richard has over 35 years of experience as a public speaker and has worked with a wide variety of industries in the areas of motivation, innovation, and inspiration.

Mic Hunter, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist. He has a private counseling practice in St. Paul, where he specializes in helping people understand, heal and improve their relationships. He is the author of several books, including The 12 Steps and Shame, Abused Boys and Honor Betrayed.
  
Julie Karsky, yoga instructor at the Renewal Center, is certified at levels one through five with Yoga Fit. She sees the practice of yoga and the program of recovery as a natural fit, creating harmony of the body, mind, and spirit.

John MacDougall, D.Min, is the director of Spiritual Guidance for Adult Services at Hazelden's Center City location where he oversees the Spiritual Care Department and Family Program. John is a popular lecturer among patients, provides spiritual care services to the Silkworth Unit, writes recovery columns for Hazelden publications, and is coauthor of Clinician's Guide to Spirituality.

Joan Peterson has worked in the addiction recovery field for more than 30 years, including almost 20 years in a teaching and training capacity with recovery pioneer Earnie Larsen.

Annetta Sutton, M.A., A.A.P.C., is a lecturer, writer, and educator who serves as a spiritual care professional at Hazelden. She readily acknowledges that her greatest education has occurred through motherhood and life.
