Academic Support Services
- Center of Excellence Model of Education
Hazelden's Center of Excellence model of education provides students with a cohort experience. Student interaction in and out of the classroom enhances the academic and clinical learning experience.
- Library and Study Space
The Hazelden library with an extensive addiction collection and inter-library loan system is available for student use. Two study rooms with computers, printers and telephones are also available for students.
- Tutorial Services
Because many of our students have been away from school for a number of years, Hazelden provides tutorial services in writing and study skills. Each student's learning needs are assessed and an individualized plan designed.
- Study Skills Seminar
Designed to meet the individual's learning needs, this seminar enhances each student's transition to a higher learning environment and typically addresses issues such as practical methods of investigation or research, professional writing, test taking techniques, and other helpful tips to make the Graduate School experience a success.
Student Life
- Student Assistant Services (SAS)-Counseling Services
The SAS is a confidential and voluntary program that allows students to seek assistance with problems that affect their personal lives or work-related issues. Up to three sessions for assessment are available at no cost to the student per year. If more counseling is needed, referrals are made to community resources. Students are financially responsible themselves or through medical insurance coverage for further treatment.
- Recovering Community
Many of the faculty and staff share the recovery experience and act as support to students adjusting to an intensive learning experience.
- Fitness Center
The Cork Center houses a top-notch recreational facility for Hazelden clients, staff, students and volunteers. The facility includes a basketball court with walking track above, swimming pool, racquetball courts and a full circuit of weight machines and free weights, as well as aerobic exercise equipment. Exercise facilities available for student use at a nominal fee.
- Availability of Twelve Step Meetings
Twelve Step meetings are easily accessible for students in the surrounding community.
- Alumni Association
The Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies Alumni Association (HGSASAA) is your lifelong connection to the Hazelden Graduate School.
