  Typology Studies
In order to better understand the specific treatment needs of adults in treatment for alcohol and/or drug dependence, a series of typology studies were conducted with the following groups:
  • employed men and women
  • older adults
  • gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) people
  • nicotine users, and
  • health care professionals (HCP)

Participants completed the Addiction Severity Index (ASI: McLellan et al., 1992) and Hazelden questionnaires while in treatment and six and 12 months following discharge. Sample sizes ranged from 67 to 110. Journal manuscripts are currently being prepared for submission. A related typology study of youth in treatment is currently in the follow-up data collection phase.
