From Shame to Healing: A Retreat for Mothers with Addicted Children

Experience a weekend of connection, insight, and healing, guided by Beverly Conyers and Sandy Swenson, an extraordinary team of authors for parents with addicted children. Together, we will explore how to let go of the myth of perfection, how shame is a barrier to recovery and healing, and how letting go of shame can make us stronger and healthier. Ideal for moms of children who are actively addicted or in recovery, this retreat will feature intensive sessions led by each author, group sharing, personal reflection, and journaling. Part of the ongoing Mom to Mom Series.

Beverly Conyers

Beverly Conyers began writing about addiction in 2003 after discovering that her 20-year-old daughter was addicted to heroin. Blending scientific research and first-hand accounts from recovering addicts and the people who love them, her books have helped countless individuals find strength, hope and a path to healing form this devastating disease. In her newest book, Find Your Light: Practicing Mindfulness to Move Any Recovery Forward (August 2019), she explores the role of shame in addiction and shows how to replace shame with understanding and self-compassion.

Sandra Swenson
Sandra Swenson is author of The Joey Song: A Mother's Story of Her Son's Addiction, Tending Dandelions: Honest Meditation for Mothers with Addicted Children and Readings for Moms of Addicts (mobile app). Swenson is a voice for parents, especially moms, living in the place where love and addiction meet.
