Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is seen to be a highly effective treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Explore the effectiveness of EMDR over a five-year period in an inpatient addiction treatment setting, primarily for those suffering from PTSD or symptoms of trauma. 

Objectives: 

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of EMDR through the eight stages    
  • Explore how EMDR and Brainspotting (BSP) can be used in an inpatient setting 
  • Identify the range of issues that can be addressed and subsequent follow-up treatment 
  • Discuss criteria for success

MEET YOUR SPEAKER
 
 

George Koren, MEd, COPD, LCADC, CMS, LPC 

For more than 30 years, George Koren has worked with patients, clients and families struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, development disabilities and relationship issues. As a specialty therapist at Seabrook House in New Jersey, Koren treats patients with substance use disorders for trauma, grief and anxiety through EMDR psychotherapy techniques. He is a certified mental illness chemical abuse specialist with a master's of education degree in counseling.
