MEET YOUR PRESENTER

Kristen Schmidt

Kristen Schmidt, MD, MAPH, is a board-certified addiction psychiatrist at Hazelden Betty Ford, assisting patients in their recovery in both residential and intensive outpatient settings.
Dr. Schmidt received advanced training in substance use disorders at UCLA, where she completed a research and clinical addiction psychiatry fellowship. Her interest in addiction psychiatry prompted her admission to the University of Illinois-College of Medicine at Peoria (where she graduated first in her class) and she then went on to complete a general psychiatry residency at Mayo Clinic, where she researched the unique relationship between substance use disorders and hormones. She used this subject expertise to contribute a chapter in The Assessment and Treatment of Addiction: Best Practices and New Frontiers.
