The CCTC, formerly the Canadian Council on Smoking and Health (CCSH), was founded in 1974 by non-governmental organizations concerned with the tobacco epidemic such as the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Canadian Lung Association. The CCTC is committed to ensuring the timely and practical transfer of critical knowledge and skill development for effective local, provincial, and national action on tobacco issues. CCTC acts as a key facilitating agent to coordinate and support advocates in tobacco control. It does this by: (1) creating and maintaining a knowledge network; and (2) actively linking key persons and agencies throughout the tobacco control movement so that they may learn from and gain from each other's knowledge and experience. Tobacco Control Reference Catalogue (at CCTC.ca): Comprised of nearly 24,000 records indexed using the CCTC Tobacco Control Thesaurus, the collection includes journal articles, monographs, websites, and multimedia items among others. Covers many aspect of tobacco control, including protection, prevention, cessation, denormalization and special populations.
