Rates for Hazelden programs vary and are dependent upon program type, length of stay, and individual patient need for services. While the following is a list of programs and their rates, it is best to discuss with a member of the Hazelden staff what your needs are before determining an estimate of a program's cost.

In addition to the daily rates for residential programs, there are routine and non-routine services that may occur during treatment. The following is an explanation of their charges and how they relate to the services Hazelden provides.

Routine charges
Routine charges are included in the daily residential rates and fees that all patients incur while they are in a Hazelden program. While there is some variation between programs at our different locations, in general, routine charges include:

• Room
• Meals
• Group therapy
• Individual therapy
• Initial psychological testing
• Informational sessions
• Recreational therapy and other therapeutic activities
• Initial issue of Hazelden literature

Non-routine charges
Non-routine charges are fees that some patients may incur for special services while at Hazelden and are added to the patient's bill in addition to the daily rate. These fees vary, as not all Hazelden patients require these services. A Hazelden financial counselor can discuss the current service fee schedule with you. Non-routine fees could include:

• Medications
• Specialized nursing care
• Psychiatric consultations
• Individual mental health consultations or sessions
• Specialized group therapy
• Specialized treatment programs
• Physician appointments
• Special transportation requests and faxes
• Additional educational and/or therapeutic books assigned by your counselor

Residential Primary Care Addiction Treatment Program
Patient stays at Hazelden

• The cost for the first day is $1840. This covers medical stabilization and medical assessments to ensure patient safety
• Each subsequent day of treatment is $810
• The average cost for residential primary care addiction treatment program of 28 days is $25,700

Extended Care
Patient stays at Hazelden for further care beyond primary treatment

• The cost for Youth Extended Residential Care is $284 per day

Parent Program

• The cost for the four-day Parent Program is $590 per person which includes program, materials, family conferences and lunches
• Travel and lodging are not included

Other programs available:

• Ten-day residential evaluation $9900 (actual charges based on length of stay and services provided) 
• Primary Day Treatment is $507 per day (no lodging)
• Mental Health Services are charged on a fee-for-service basis
