What to bring and what not to bring
When attending a Hazelden residential program, the list of items below helps patients
prepare for their stay. We also advise patients to consult weather forecasts for Newberg, OR (zip code 97132) to bring appropriate seasonal clothing.
What to bring

Photo ID and health insurance card

3-5 days of comfortable/casual clothing and two pairs of comfortable shoes. Washer, dryer and ironing facilities will be available for your use

Athletic apparel, there are workout facilities available after appropriate assessment

Outerwear appropriate for the location and season

$100 in cash each week and either one credit card or a checkbook for buying miscellaneous items and books in the bookstore

Calling card for telephone use

Three days' supply of properly labeled prescription medications in the current prescription bottle

Alcohol-free toiletries (mouthwash, cologne, hairspray, etc.) and a toothbrush

Nicotine products: Smoking is allowed in designated areas; however, nicotine is not sold on the premises. Cigars, pipes and clove cigarettes are not allowed on the Center City campus

Smoking information
Smoking is not permitted on the Medical Unit, however, patients are allowed to smoke in designated outside areas once they have been transferred from the Medical Unit to a Treatment Unit.
