| Peer Empowerment Training
There are many prevention strategies that can be implemented by the community, family, school, and youth. Peer Empowerment training was designed to help young people develop the skills to prevent some of the problems of adolescence, and to take the initiative to be leaders and improve their school and community.
Who should attend
- Student advisors
- Middle or high school students
Participants will be able to
- understand the concept of a healthy empowered peer and the risk factors that interfere with peer empowerment
- understand comprehensive prevention
- explore and define the role of youth in comprehensive prevention
- possess basic skills in communication, decision making, assertiveness, and caring confrontation
- draft a personal and team action plan to increase youth ownership of prevention in their school/family/community
