  Volunteer your time
If you want to help, there's a place for you at Hazelden! You can provide vital support by donating your time and talents at our many locations. There are as many volunteer opportunities at Hazelden as there are people who want to share.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Serve as a tour guide, hosting our many visitors
  • Assist bookstore staff and customers
  • Assemble packets for educational workshops
  • Assist in updating and researching continuing care resources, and completing Alcoholics Anonymous contact worksheets
  • Answer phones, record messages, document appointments and deliver items
  • Prepare information packets for Family Program residents and participate in morning community meetings
  • Serve as a guest speaker at Hazelden facilities
  • Orient patients to the traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
  • Assist with mailings, order processing and packaging
  • Assist Recovery Services staff and managers
  • Assist with data entry projects
  • Assist at Hazelden events and health fairs

How you begin
We know that different individuals prefer different kinds of assignments for a whole host of different reasons. Hazelden will place volunteers in positions following a screening process that includes an application and personal interview. A volunteer's skills, interest and background will be matched as closely as possible to an appropriate position. We're always open to new ideas for volunteer involvement.

What's in it for you?
As a volunteer at Hazelden, you'll receive many benefits. These include:

  • Discount on Hazelden books
  • Use of Hazelden library
  • Admission to daily lectures
  • Complimentary meal tickets
  • Use of Hazelden CORK Center recreational facility in Center City

However, the most important benefit of being a volunteer is the satisfaction of helping others. Whether it's a warm hello, a friendly face or a helping hand, just knowing that you made a difference in someone's life makes it all worthwhile.
