2023 Sober Tailgate Party

St. Paul, MN

Celebrating International Recovery Day and the first-ever 'Day of Service'

Group of Friends having fun outdoors

Join Us for the Celebration!

To celebrate National Recovery Month, we’re hosting a sure-to-be-rockin’ Sober Tailgate Party that doubles as an opportunity to make a lifechanging impact.

Friends from the Twin Cities and beyond will come together on September 30 to celebrate recovery and support an important cause—veteran and active military families.

Joining us will be special guests from the Minnesota Vikings, Wild, Lynx and Timberwolves as well as, our friends and collaborators from Semper Fi Flo, Moblize Recovery, Bold North Recovery and CVS Health.

We'll kick-off the festivities cheering on the University of Minnesota Gophers’ as they host the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns for their homecoming football game starting at 11 a.m. You can look forward to lively music, great food and refreshments, fun games and activities, community resource tables and, most importantly, connecting with friends old and new.

In addition, you'll have the opportunity to stop by our Day of Service booths and do something special for military families.

Many Ways to Be of Service at the Tailgate

Mobilize Recovery is inspiring the recovery community nationwide to demonstrate its impact by organizing service opportunities in support of a variety of causes. The first ever Day of Service will take place on International Recovery Day, the final day of National Recovery Month. Talk about a gratitude supercharger for our Sober Tailgate Party!

Our chosen cause is veteran and military families. And thanks to collaborators Semper Fi Flo, United Heroes League and CVS Health, there will be at least three easy ways to make a difference at the tailgate.

  • Donate lightly used sports equipment to help ensure children in military families can participate in sports. Bring anything you have from home and toss into donation bins from our friends at the United Heroes League.

  • Write supportive letters and messages to active-duty service members, veterans and their families. Spend a few minutes at the letter-writing booth, and our friends at Semper Fi Flo will send on your behalf. We're told service members especially love pictures and messages from kids!

  • Assemble and send care packages. CVS Health has graciously donated items, and Semper Fi Flo will send as many as we can collectively assemble at the tailgate. Stop by the care package assembly line to take a quick shift.

Big Thanks to Supporters and Collaborators

This event brought to you by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and planning partners, Bold North Recovery and Mobilize Recovery. Additional collaborators and supporters include the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Wild, the Minnesota Lynx, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Semper Fi Flo, United Heroes League, and CVS Health.
